CONCEPT OF CHIKITHSA
Ksheera Dhara
Ksheera
Dhara is one of the important treatments among Ayurveda treatments. It
is a process by which the body is made to perspire by means of pouring
warm medicated milk with a special vessel from a certain height in a
rhythmic manner and is rubbed into the body in different postures for
a certain period.
Ksheera Dhara
strengthens the tissues, nourishes the skin and promotes longevity,
and also rejuvenates the body. It is especially good for vatha pitta
disorders.
Thakra Dhara
Thakra
dhara is a form of Sirodhara , an Ayurvedic treatment method which
involves continuous flow of medicated butter milk to the forehead
continuously from a special vessel from a certain height in a rhythmic
manner. It relieves tension and effective for certain types of skin
diseases and enhances the sleep.
Kati Vasti
In this
process specially prepared warm medicated oil is kept over the lower
back with in a boundary made out of herbal paste. It is recommended in
low back ache and spinal disorders , relieves pain in sciatica and
inter vertebral disc prolepses , inter vertebral slip disc and
numbness .
Greeva Vasti
Specially prepared warm medicated oil is kept over the cervical region
( Back neck ) with in a boundary made out of herbal paste. It is
recommended in Cervical spondylosis , stiff neck etc
Janu
Vasti
Specially prepared warm medicated oil is kept over the knee with in a
boundary made out of herbal paste. It is recommended in knee pain ,
Osteoarthritis
etc
Ela
Kizhi
It is a
process in which herbal leaves are tied in a cloth bag. This bag is
dipped into hot medicated oil and then applied over the body. It
relieves from body pain, stiff joints, back aches , arthritis and
similar ailments
Njavarakizhi
Njavarakizhi is a process where the body is made to perspire by
applying muslin bags filled with hot medicated rice mixed with herbs
and oil. This is nourishing and helpful for rheumatism , joint and
muscle pain and certain skin problems. In addition to medical benefits
this wonderfully relaxing treatment leaves you glowing with healthy.It
is an immune-enhancing rejuvenation therapy and is made use of in
convalescence period of injury and trauma, muscular wasting,
arthritis, general weakness, paralysis etc.
Podikizhi
A type of Ayurvedic treatment with herbal
powders . The mixture of the herbal powders tied in cloth boluses . It
is then soaked in herbal oil to massage the whole body. This promotes
circulation and increases perspiration which in turn helps the skin
eliminate wastes and revitalizes the skin, thereby improving skin
tone. It Relieves joint pain, paralysis , neuro-muscular diseases ,
arthritis, and all rheumatic pain
Avagaha Swedana
Avagaha Swedam, immersing in a medicated
medium, is a special treatment in traditional ayurveda for diseases
such as neurological disorders, rheumatism and arthritis. It is the
fomentation by sitting in a tub or a vessel with vata alleviating
decoction or milk. In this treatment, the patient is made to sit in a
tub which is filled with the vata alleviating decoction or milk for a
prescribed time. The decoction in the tub should be above the level of
the umbilicus and the decoction should be maintained at the same
temperature by periodically alternating with warm decoction.This
treatmenst is effective for ano rectal disorders like piles and it is
also recommended for urinary problems etc
Netra Dhara
Mild pouring of herbal decoction through the inner corners of the
eyes is the core of this treatment. It is an excellent treatment for
many common eye ailments. Pain, itching, watering, burning sensation,
and reddish discoloration of the eyes are treated by this therapy. It
cleans and removes various impurities from the eyes..
Pichu
Pichu is specialized Ayurveda treatment applicable esprcially for
localized ailments . Pichu is effective for localized pain due to
injuries , muscular weakness , sprain , arthritis etc It is good for
diseases affecting the cranial nerves due to Vata disorders.
